Employee Spotlight: Lisa Torgerson, Human Resources Director, Asurity and Sandler Law Group

Lisa Torgerson - SLG HR Director

Seven Question with Asurity/Sandler Law Group HR Director, Lisa Torgerson!

Meet Lisa Torgerson! She’s the Human Resources Director here at Asurity/SLG and last month, we celebrated her 12th anniversary with our team!

Describe what you do at Asurity/SLG in 3 words or less.

LT: Guide, Enter, Follow-up. I guide the firm/company and its employees through the areas that we cover in HR; I enter or input a lot of information; and I follow up on all of the areas/items we handle in HR.

How did you discover your passion for Human Resources?

LT: My passion for Human Resources came from my love of interacting with people. I love helping my employees. Our philosophy here is Servant Leadership.

What is the most interesting thing you’ve seen or read recently?

LT: The Man from Taured by Jeremy Bates has me on the edge of my seat!

If you could have dinner with anyone in the world, past or present, who would it be?

LT: This is going to sound cheesy but my answer is my family, hands down. Having my two kids and husband all together, sharing a meal & talking is the best. It fills this mom’s heart! My children are in their 20’s both living on their own. One is getting married this year and the other one is getting married next year. The times we four get to spend together around a table laughing and talking can be rare these days, but it is absolutely hands down priceless to me.

Do you have any pets? If so, tell me about them.

LT: I have a Cavapoo named Ollie (pictured). He turns 2 years old on July 30th of this year. Best decision my husband and I ever made! He loves to snuggle, barks at anything that moves when he’s walking on a leash and loves to go to the grocery store with us. He is the best dog in a bag, not so much on a leash. Lol

What energizes you at work?

LT: Having a full plate and knowing I have to get things checked off my list, and accomplishing those items.

What advice would you give to someone entering the industry?

LT: For someone starting out in mortgage I would say be eager to learn, be flexible, be willing to do those extra tasks others turn down and have a great attitude – it goes a long way.
