Peter Idziak is the Partner-in-Charge of Sandler Law Group, where he leads the firm's residential mortgage practice and guides the day-to-day management of its legal and compliance professionals. He directs the firm's client service activities, supervises and mentors its attorneys, and oversees the legal review, disclosure, and compliance work that mortgage lenders in Texas and nationwide need to originate and fund loans accurately and on time.

Peter has nearly two decades of experience advising mortgage lenders, banks, credit unions, and other financial institutions on the unique aspects of Texas mortgage lending requirements, including the state's independent lender counsel rules and the constitutional provisions governing Texas home equity lending.

Peter also advises clients regarding the full range of residential mortgage and consumer financial services law. His work spans the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), and the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), as well as Veterans Administration (VA), Federal Housing Administration (FHA), and Government-Sponsored Enterprise (GSE) requirements. In addition, he regularly assists lenders with the development of non-QM loan products, including HELOCs, DSCR loans, and bridge loans.

Peter is a frequent speaker and panelist at mortgage industry conferences and association events and is regularly sought out by national business and trade media for commentary on regulatory developments affecting the mortgage industry. He also authors articles on compliance and regulatory topics for industry publications and is a widely quoted voice on federal and state mortgage regulation.

Peter holds a Certified Mortgage Compliance Professional (CMCP) Designation from the Mortgage Bankers Association and is a Certified Mortgage Leader (CML) through the Texas Mortgage Bankers Association.
